About
this site
This site brings together information
and resources related to statistics in Africa, both from within
the World Bank and from many other sources identified by World Bank
staff.
News, Events
and Key Issues highlights happenings in the world of statistics
of potential interest to the community working in relation to statistics
in Africa. If you have news, details of an upcoming statistics-related
event, or a key issue you would like to have showcased on our site,
please logon at the top right-hand side of the screen, and complete
the form online.
On the menu to the left-hand side of
the screen, you will find three sections: data, methods and applications,
and resources.
Under Data you will find information
on: the Africa Development Indicators,
the most detailed collection of development data on Africa (including
data from over 50 African countries and more than 500 development
indicators); the
Africa Household Survey Databank (a collection of over 100 survey
and census data sets from African countries); the
Africa Live Database (a data management system designed to assist
statistical agencies and other organizations to centralize time
series data, improve access, and facilitate publication and dissemination
of statistical information). There is also a link to the
World Bank Group's Data and Map site, which is an entry point
to information on global development data.
Information on statistical research
and development work supported by the World Bank in Sub-Saharan
Africa can be found under Methods and Applications.
Under Resources, you will find
key
sources of statistics in African organizations, including academic
and research institutes, National Statistics Offices, and Regional
institutions, and also in other international and donor partner
organizations. A database is available
searchable by Sector. This section also include information
on training resources related to statistics offered either in Sub-Saharan
Africa or in other parts of the world.
Inclusion of information on this site
does not necessarily imply endorsement by the World Bank. Nor does
the absence of information imply deliberate exclusion. We are aware
that the information is incomplete. We hope to build on it. If an
organization working in relation to statistics in Africa is missing
it is because we had insufficient or no information on it.
If you would like information from
your own organization included, or you know of one we have missed,
or if you have news, details of an upcoming statistics-related event,
or a key issue you would like to have showcased on our site (as
mentioned above), please login as a new user at the top right-hand
side of the screen, and complete the form on line.
