The
International Association for Statistical
Computing (IASC) was founded during
the 41st Session of the ISI in 1977,
as a Section of the ISI. The objectives
of the Association are to foster world-wide
interest in effective statistical computing
and to exchange technical knowledge
through international contacts and meetings
between statisticians, computing professionals,
organizations, institutions, governments
and the general public. The Association
is affiliated with the International
Federation of Information Processing
Societies (IFIP). The Association pursues
its objectives with special attention
to developing countries. It promotes
collaborative efforts within international,
national, regional and other organizations
and institutions having similar aims;
it fosters evaluations of statistical
computing techniques and programs and
facilitates the exchange of computer
programmes and meetings, particularly
in conjunction with sessions of the
ISI.

of Survey Statisticians (IASS) has as
its charge and mandate to promote the

is an organization dedicated to the
issues and concerns of data librarians,
data archivists, data producers, and
data users. This unique professional
association assists members in their
support of social science research.
IASSIST helps bridge the interests and
concerns of three distinct communities
working in the public and private sector:
1. social researchers and scientists
who are producers and users of micro
and macro-level social data;
2. information specialists who preserve
social data, manage facilities and provide
services that promote the secondary
use of social data; and
3. computing specialists who advance
technical methods to manipulate and
analyze social data.

in 1885 and therefore celebrated its
